UROFLOWMETRY

Uroflowmetry is a simple, non-invasive diagnostic test that measures the rate and pattern of urine flow. It helps evaluate how well the bladder and urethra are functioning during urination.

Uroflowmetry is commonly indicated in patients with:

  1. Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) such as weak urinary stream, intermittent flow of urine, straining to urinate, and feeling of incomplete bladder emptying.

  2. Suspected urinary obstruction due to prostate enlargement, urethral stricture, and bladder neck obstruction.

  3. Voiding dysfunction due to overactive bladder or neurogenic bladder.

Uroflowmetry is also used to monitor the response of patients to medical treatment of the aforementioned conditions or as a follow-up study after surgery for prostate enlargement, urethral stricture, etc.
